My last day in at the National Sports Museum drawing free caricatures. It’s an amazing place. AFL and AFLW stars where there every day. I got to draw them too. Kaitlyn Asmore and Gryan Miers. Fletcher Roberts and Nina Morrison. Really lovely guys. Harv
Harv’s Footy Stars – 30 Years of Caricature was officially launched Wednesday 4th July 2019 by the brilliant Ian Cover and the equally brilliant John Spooner. It was relaxed, conversational and well attended by a large and interested crowd. Stories were shared and books were sold. Peter McKenna appeared, as if by magic, holding a caricature I did of him in grade six. Thanks to David and Trevor from the MCC library. Thanks to Michael Wilkinson and Michael Bannenberg for such a beautiful book. Thanks to Fiona Hamilton for her wonderful photographs. Thanks to Ian Cover and John Spooner for their very kind words and thanks to all the attended and all that intended to. (3.30 on a Wednesday is a particular work unfriendly time.) Feeling chuffed. Harv
Cartoonist John Spooner was at the MCG Library on July 3rd to help launch Paul Harvey’s new book, ‘Footy Stars:30 Years of Caricatures’. 30 years – that’s how long Paul has caricatured leading AFL players: Ablett, Matthews, Dyer, Flower, Blight…they’re all there in the 160 page book. Guest speaker was Coodabeen Champions’ Ian Cover. It retails for $59.99 and is the ultimate coffee table book…you might want one for the man cave too

For over 30 years Paul Harvey has caricatured hundreds of the greatest players to ever don a football boot. From Coventry and Dyer, Matthews and Ablett, Flower and Blight through to Hipwood and Tipungwuti, Harv has drawn them all in his own inimitable style. His caricatures have appeared on everything from book and magazine covers to framed milestone celebrations, emojis, toffee tins, micro-figures, t-shirts, and stubby holders.
